I went to Sac. Raceway yesterday to try and improve my E.T. I was doing 1.6 sixty foots every pass, but as soon as I full throttled second gear the tires would light up in smoke. I was only able to get one decant pass, but I still lit up second gear badly. I ran a 10.90 getting in and out of the throttle 4 times down the track. I was doing 87mph in the 1/8 and trapped 134 in the 1/4 mile. My best mph was a 11.012 @ 141, 107mph in the eighth not full throttling, when I full throttle I pick up about 5-7 Mph on the trap. I decided full throttle wasn't going to work for me, so I said let me see how she will do while regular shifting. The next pass I regular shift: got out of the hole pretty well, 1.6 sixty foot, as soon as I dropped second gear she bogged just a tad. I put her in third gear and as I’m getting ready to shift into forth, at about 8100 Rpm, I hear a big pop as though my engine blew; I nearly had a heart attack. I get off the gas and I hear a huge rattling noise, I thought I had spun a rod bearing. I pull into the pits and realize that I broke third gear. This is the first time she broke while in gear, usually I break them while shifting. I was so upset because I just put in the transmission less then a week ago. I have come to the conclusion that I have to much power for the stock transmission and either have to upgrade to a dog gear setup or go back to the automagic.
